For lack of any other clever ideas, I gave up Tumblr for Lent. Not that I’m Catholic or anything, but my mother’s beliefs did rub off on me…I think it’s very healthy to deny yourself something that normally gives you pleasure. It makes it all the more special that way.
In previous years, I gave up soda (which was amazing) and googling someone who is dear to me. The latter doesn’t seem that extreme, but trust me, when you fall in love with a friend who also happens to be in the public eye—we’re not just talking facebook or myspace or whatever stalking—it’s a big dealio. (For the record, we no longer talk… I haven’t seen him in two years, and the last I corresponded with him was in November.) (Over him? Not by a long shot. I’m fucked.)
ANYWAY. Tumblr.
Time to get back on it…I have read/listened to/seen too much good shit lately to not express my appreciation in some way. Even though I have very few followers, but that matters not.
So… yeah Tumblr! I try to be choosey with what I post, but considering I haven’t posted anything in months, I think I’ll just go ahead and try to catch up right now.

January 21 is Squirrel Appreciation Day!
Considering they’re a bane to gardeners and bird-feeding enthusiasts, squirrel appreciation day is probably more controversial than yesterday’s Cheese-fest, but squirrels still have some fans.
In addition to the ubiquitous Eastern Gray Squirrel, Washington DC hosts a sizable population of the melanistic variety (aka Black Squirrels). So — red squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, flying squirrels — what type of squirrels live near you?
